According to its official website, Apron is a London-based business payments platform that captures, pays and reconciles bills, payroll and expenses in one place. It offers business owners batch bill payments, approval flows, paying any bill including HMRC by credit card and reward points convertible into Virgin Points; finance teams physical and virtual expense cards with limits, single-merchant cards and reimbursement management; and accounting firms the William AI bookkeeping assistant, payroll payments and payment links. It syncs with QuickBooks and Xero, and the site states that more than 20,000 businesses use Apron. According to the pricing page, payments and bookkeeping plans cost GBP 29, 49 and 99 per client per month, with a 0.5% FX conversion fee. Apron Payments Ltd states that it is an electronic money institution authorised by the FCA (FRN 1004915) and acts as an agent of Plaid Financial Ltd for account information services.
