According to its official website, Backpack is a financial services platform that combines a crypto exchange, a brokerage and a wallet in one account. The site says Backpack Wallet was incorporated in 2022 and Backpack Exchange in March 2023, and that in September 2025 it launched Backpack EU under a MiFID II licence regulated by CySEC and returned funds to former FTX EU clients. EU services are provided by Trek Labs Europe Ltd (licence 273/15), formerly FTX EU Ltd, which uses the trading name Backpack EU in the CySEC register; the site describes this as "MiFID II / CySEC licensed for derivatives in the EU" and says it is MiCA licensed for crypto in the EU, but does not state which entity holds the MiCA licence or with which authority. In the UAE, Trek Labs Ltd FZE provides spot exchange services only under a Dubai VARA licence (VL/23/07/001); the site also says it is registered with FinCEN in the US. The platform offers spot and futures crypto trading, a shared collateral system, automatic lending and yield, subaccounts, trading bots and Backpack Wallet supporting more than 10 networks; US stock trading (Backpack Securities) is not offered on Backpack EU.
