According to its official website, Bourn is a London-based fintech founded in May 2024 that says it is building a modern alternative to the business overdraft. Bourn Technologies Ltd is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 for issuing electronic money and providing payment services (FRN 1033250); the site states that it is not a bank, that funds in its e-money accounts are safeguarded but not protected by the FSCS, that it does not provide credit itself and that credit or receivables finance is provided by third-party banks and finance providers. Services are for businesses only (an FCA register requirement bars services to consumers): a smart business account connected to bank and accounting systems, a flexible funding line of up to 90% of receivables through funding partners, and sending and receiving payments; it also offers embedded, co-branded and white-label solutions to banks, alternative finance providers and platforms.
