According to its official website, BP Bernstein is one of the oldest independent stockbroking firms in South Africa; the site says the firm was established nearly 60 years ago and has served private investors and institutions since the early 1950s. The firm is a member of JSE Limited for equities and is authorised for JSE investments; for CFDs and offshore investments it is an authorised financial services provider with the FSCA (FSP 40810). Its services cover equity trading, CFD trading, offshore investments, ETFs, ETNs, Satrix and structured products, the design and management of individually tailored portfolios and research. Clients can choose between discretionary, investment advisory and execution-only mandates. The site says CFD margin starts at 10% for the top South African shares and that brokerage ranges from 1% to 0.3% depending on the transaction value. The firm does not accept third-party payments.
