According to its official website, China Construction Bank (CCB) is a Chinese bank whose predecessor, the People's Construction Bank of China, was founded in October 1954, and which describes itself as the second largest bank in China and one of the largest banks in the world. CCB's London branch was established in the UK on 22 December 2014 and has been designated by the People's Bank of China as the official renminbi (RMB) clearing bank in the UK. The branch focuses on wholesale banking: it offers Chinese firms operating in the UK and companies with links to China syndicated and bilateral loans, term and demand deposits, letters of credit and guarantees, trade finance and cross-border RMB products, and provides corporates, banks, central banks and financial institutions with treasury products such as foreign exchange, interest rate swaps, money market instruments and bonds.
