According to its official website, CEX.IO is a cryptocurrency exchange active since 2013 that says it has reached more than 15 million users in over 185 countries; it says it was one of the first exchanges to offer crypto purchases by credit and debit card in 2013 and that it passes PCI DSS Level 1 security audits. It offers retail and institutional users Instant Buy by Visa/Mastercard and e-wallets, spot trading, margin trading depending on the country, a crypto converter, staking and savings products, and iOS and Android apps; deposits and withdrawals use SEPA, SWIFT, Faster Payments and cards. The site says services are provided through CEX.IO Markets UK Ltd in the UK, CEX.IO Europe, S.L. in the EEA, CEX.IO Corp. in the US and CEX OVRS LLC in other countries, and that CEX.IO Markets UK Ltd is registered with the FCA as a cryptoasset firm under the Money Laundering Regulations (MLRs) (FRN 1007192), adding that this registration does not constitute FCA authorisation; the FCA's MLR registration is an anti-money-laundering registration, not an investment-services licence. The site also says it is registered with FinCEN in the US as a money services business (MSB), and announces that some account functions in the EEA are currently unavailable because of MiCA rules. The group's Cyprus entity CEX Markets Ltd holds Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF) licence 381/19 from CySEC. This information is the company's own statement.
