According to its official website, Chang Hwa Bank is a Taiwanese bank whose origins go back to Kabushiki Kaisha Shoka Ginko, founded in Changhua on 5 June 1905, and which was re-incorporated under the law of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on 1 March 1947. The bank has branches in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Manila and a subsidiary in mainland China; the London branch is at 6-8 Tokenhouse Yard. The site says its overseas units offer deposits, loans, remittances, trade finance, letters of credit, guarantees and foreign exchange to Taiwanese and overseas Chinese companies and individuals as well as local companies, carry out money and capital market transactions and take part in international syndicated loans; no product details specific to the London branch are given. According to the Bank of England list and the FCA register, Chang Hwa Commercial Bank Ltd is authorised by the PRA to accept deposits through its London branch and is regulated by the FCA and the PRA.
