According to its official website, EbonFX is a Sydney-based company offering international payment and foreign exchange services to individuals, businesses and online retailers. The site states that the company registered with AUSTRAC as a Remittance Network Provider and obtained an AFS licence in 2012 under the name Compass, was acquired in 2022 by Nasdaq-listed Ebang International Holdings Inc and rebranded as EbonFX, and launched the new EbonFX platform in 2023. Services are provided by ASIC-licensed EbonFX Australia Pty Ltd (AFSL 426810), trading as EbonFX. The company says it sends money to bank accounts in more than 130 countries in over 39 currencies, lets customers receive funds without opening foreign currency accounts, hold foreign currency balances for up to 30 days and hedge currency risk with forward contracts, with account opening and identity verification done online.
