According to its official website, Investec started as a small finance company in South Africa in 1974 and is now a group with a dual-listed companies (DLC) structure on the London and Johannesburg stock exchanges. The group's UK bank is Investec Bank plc, with its registered office at 30 Gresham Street in London. The bank offers high-net-worth individuals the Voyage Account, private bank savings accounts, mortgages, portfolio loans, foreign exchange and offshore banking; under the Investec Save brand, its online instant access, notice and fixed term savings accounts require a minimum deposit of 5,000 GBP. In corporate and investment banking it serves companies with turnover above 25 million GBP, private equity funds and institutional investors with lending, treasury and risk management, deposits and cash management, capital markets and fund solutions. Customers bank through Investec Online. According to the Bank of England list and the FCA register, Investec Bank plc is authorised by the PRA to accept deposits and is regulated by the FCA and the PRA. The site says eligible deposits with Investec Bank plc are protected by the FSCS. The group's South African entities Investec Bank Limited (FSP 11750), Investec Investment Platform (Pty) Ltd (FSP 52441), Investec Investment Management (Pty) Ltd (FSP 44897) and Investec Markets (Pty) Ltd (FSP 50726) hold financial services provider licences from the FSCA.
