According to its official website, Online Payment Platform (OPP) is a payment service provider that makes online payments simple, fast and secure for marketplaces and platforms; it was launched in 2013, signed the largest Dutch marketplace Marktplaats in 2014 and took on Worldline as a major investor in 2023. Its services are embedded payments, merchant onboarding and identity verification, escrow and buyer protection, split payments, multi-currency, instant seller payouts and in-person payments with iOS and Android SDKs; merchants can onboard from more than 30 markets. The site says Online Payment Platform B.V. is licensed by the Dutch central bank (DNB) to provide payment services (R124325) and that client funds are held through a separate foundation ('Online Payments'); for the United Kingdom it refers to the Temporary Permission Regime (FRN 781097). In the FCA register, the UK company ONLINE PAYMENT PLATFORM LIMITED is listed as an e-money institution under the trading name 'Online Payment Platform'.
