According to its official website, Taipei Fubon Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fubon Financial Holding, formed on 1 January 2005 through the merger of Taipei Bank and Fubon Bank; the site describes this as the first large merger of a state-owned bank and a private bank in Taiwan's financial history.
