According to its official website, Alpha Bank London was founded in October 1922 in the City of London as the Commercial Bank of the Near East, re-emerged in 1990 as the Commercial Bank of London and soon after joined the Alpha Bank Group. Today it operates as an independent entity within the group; Alpha Bank London Limited has its registered office in London and serves clients in the UK and internationally. The bank offers private clients current accounts, fixed term deposits in pounds, euros and dollars and investment services, as well as finance for property projects. Fixed term deposits are available to existing customers only and require at least 50,000 pounds in sterling; the current account that must be opened first requires a minimum of 100,000 pounds, 150,000 euros or 150,000 dollars. The site says eligible deposits are protected by the FSCS up to 120,000 pounds. According to the Bank of England list and the FCA register, Alpha Bank London Limited is authorised by the PRA to accept deposits and is regulated by the FCA and the PRA.
