According to its official website, Brite is an international payments group founded in Stockholm in 2019 to provide instant account-to-account (A2A) payments between customers and merchants using open banking technology, with offices in London, Stockholm, Malta and Malaga. The site states that in the United Kingdom Brite Payments Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as an electronic money institution, and its international version says Brite AB is a licensed payment institution supervised by the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) with its authorisations passported to European countries. The service is offered at merchant checkouts: the user selects a bank and approves with the bank's own security method; Brite says it connects to more than 3,800 banks in the United Kingdom and 27 European markets, provides instant payments, refunds and payouts, and charges only merchants, not consumers.
