According to its official website, Charity Bank (The Charity Bank Limited) is a savings and loan bank established in 2002 as an independent regulated bank and entirely owned by charitable foundations, trusts and social purpose organisations; its registered office is in Tonbridge. The bank says it lends the money its savers entrust to it to UK charities, social enterprises and impact-led organisations. It offers individuals and organisations easy access, 33 to 93-day notice and fixed rate savings accounts, a Cash ISA and Community Investment Tax Relief accounts; the easy access and fixed rate accounts open with a minimum of GBP 5,000. Organisations can borrow secured loans from GBP 150,000 up to GBP 8.5 million and use a GBP 50 million energy efficiency loan programme. Accounts can be opened online, and a mobile app is due to launch later in 2026. According to the Bank of England list and the FCA register, the bank is authorised by the PRA and regulated by the FCA and the PRA; the site states that eligible deposits are protected up to a total of GBP 120,000 by the FSCS.
