According to its official website, Atom bank was founded in 2014 as the UK's first app-based bank, received its banking licence in 2015 and launched in 2016; it is headquartered in Newcastle. The bank has no branches and opens and manages savings accounts through its mobile app. Its products include the Easy Access Cash ISA, Instant Saver, Instant Saver Reward and the Fixed Saver; the Fixed Saver takes between 50 and 100,000 pounds during the deposit window, while the Instant Saver and the Cash ISA have no minimum. The bank also provides mortgages through independent brokers (first-time buyers, home movers, remortgages, less than perfect credit) and commercial mortgages and loans under the Growth Guarantee Scheme for businesses. The site says deposits are protected by the FSCS up to 120,000 pounds. According to the Bank of England list and the FCA register, Atom Bank PLC is authorised by the PRA to accept deposits and is regulated by the FCA and the PRA.
