According to its official website, Bank of China (UK) Limited is the UK subsidiary of Bank of China. Bank of China opened its first overseas office in London on 4 November 1929, and in 2007 the UK Financial Services Authority approved the establishment of the subsidiary. The subsidiary is separate from Bank of China London Branch, which operates in the same building (1 Lothbury, London), and provides personal and corporate banking through branches in the City of London, London Chinatown, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow. Its products include personal current accounts, instant access savings and fixed term deposit accounts (including RMB), mortgages, overseas remittances and currency exchange, Great Wall International debit and credit cards, UnionPay card acquiring, corporate deposits, trade finance, guarantees, foreign exchange and syndicated loans; a private banking service centre opened in London in 2017. According to the Bank of England list and the FCA register, the bank is authorised by the PRA and regulated by the FCA and the PRA; the site announces that the FSCS deposit protection limit for personal accounts was increased from 1 December 2025.
