According to its official investor relations website, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) was formed through the merger of PT Bank BRIsyariah Tbk, PT Bank Syariah Mandiri and PT Bank BNI Syariah and began operating on 1 February 2021; the merger was approved by Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) on 27 January 2021. The site says BSI is the largest Islamic bank in Indonesia, that it became a state-owned enterprise in January 2026 and changed its name to PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, and that its shares trade under the code BRIS. Its head office is in The Tower building in Jakarta.
