According to its official website, Kuwait Finance House PLC is a UK-incorporated bank established in 1966 and formerly known as Ahli United Bank (UK) PLC; it is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuwait Finance House (KFH), the first Islamic bank, founded in Kuwait in 1977. It is headquartered at 35 Portman Square in London. The bank serves clients in the UK, the Arab world and particularly the Gulf with private banking and wealth management, premium banking, Shari'ah-compliant home finance (since 1997; Murabaha and Ijarah structures, owner-occupied and buy-to-let) and commercial real estate finance. Its current account is available only to private banking clients, who must hold an investment of at least 1,000,000 US dollars with the group; it also offers profit-sharing call and Wakala fixed-term investment accounts, debit cards and treasury services. Accounts are managed through online banking and a mobile app, and the site says eligible deposits are protected by the FSCS up to 120,000 pounds. According to the Bank of England list and the FCA register, Kuwait Finance House PLC is authorised by the PRA to accept deposits and is regulated by the FCA and the PRA.
