According to its official website, NBK UK is the UK bank of the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK): NBK opened a London branch in 1983, and in 1992 the branch was replaced by a wholly owned subsidiary, National Bank of Kuwait (International) Plc (NBKI). NBKI serves customers connected with Kuwait and the Middle East with counter services and private banking as well as corporate banking, trade finance, commercial real estate finance and treasury services; its private banking unit also assists with real estate acquisition and financing. Personal products include current accounts, notice and Watani Super savings accounts, fixed term deposits, debit cards, home, holiday home and buy-to-let mortgages and safe deposit boxes; personal accounts are aimed at people living in, or with a direct link to, the NBK Group core countries (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq). Retail banking accounts must keep a minimum balance of GBP 100,000 for fee-free banking (GBP 50,000 for accounts opened before May 2022). Accounts are managed through NBK Online banking and the NBK UK mobile app. According to the Bank of England list and the FCA register, National Bank of Kuwait (International) Plc is authorised by the PRA to accept deposits and is regulated by the FCA and the PRA.
