According to its official website, Nottingham Building Society (The Nottingham) is a mutual building society founded in 1849 by a group of Nottingham businessmen led by the Quaker grocer Samuel Fox; it says it is owned by its members rather than shareholders and passes its profits to members instead of paying dividends. Its head office is at Nottingham House in Nottingham; it has branches in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Staffordshire, Hertfordshire and Norfolk and says it looks after more than GBP 4bn. Its savings range includes easy and limited access accounts, fixed rate accounts, regular savings, Cash ISAs, an Online Lifetime ISA and children's accounts that can be opened with GBP 1; it offers mortgage advice together with Mortgage Advice Bureau, as well as home insurance and later life planning. Accounts are managed online and through the mobile app. According to the Bank of England list and the FCA register, it is authorised by the PRA and regulated by the FCA and the PRA; the site states that eligible savings are protected by the FSCS.
