According to its official website, Regional Australia Bank is a customer-owned bank operated by Regional Australia Bank Ltd. The site states that its roots go back to 1969, when it was established as the New England Staff Credit Union at the University of New England in Armidale; after mergers with Peel Valley Credit Union in 2004, Orana Credit Union in 2008 and Hunter Mutual in 2010 it became the Community Mutual Group, it became Regional Australia Bank in 2016 and later merged with Holiday Coast Credit Union. Its head offices are in Armidale, Port Macquarie and Lismore. The site announces that the merger with Summerland Bank took effect on 1 July 2026 and that a memorandum of understanding has been signed with SWSbank on a proposed merger. The bank offers transaction and savings accounts, term savings from AUD 1,000, a credit card, home, car and personal loans, business accounts and loans, agribusiness banking, farm management deposits, solicitor and real estate trust accounts, merchant facilities and international payments.
