According to its official website, Yorkshire Building Society is a mutual building society whose roots go back to the Huddersfield Equitable Permanent Benefit Building Society, established in Huddersfield in 1864, and which is today one of the largest building societies in the UK; it says it has members rather than shareholders and serves more than 3 million members. Its head office is at Yorkshire House, Bradford. It merged with Chelsea Building Society in 2010 and with Norwich & Peterborough Building Society in 2011; Chelsea Building Society and Norwich & Peterborough are now its trading names, and Accord Mortgages, its intermediary-only lending subsidiary, was launched in 2003. It offers easy and limited access savings accounts, fixed rate bonds, Cash ISAs, regular savers, children's and loyalty accounts, as well as first-time buyer, remortgage, offset and fixed rate mortgages, commercial mortgages and insurance. It serves customers through 200 branches and agencies, by phone, on its website and through its mobile app; savers can start the Triple Access eSaver from GBP 1.
