According to its official website, China Minsheng Bank was formally established in Beijing in January 1996 as China's first national joint-stock commercial bank initiated mainly by non-state-owned enterprises; it listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2000 and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2009. The bank opened a London representative office in 2016, and China Minsheng Banking Corporation Limited, London Branch was authorised by the PRA on 2 April 2024. As the bank's only branch outside Asia, the London branch is authorised to conduct wholesale banking activities and, focusing on corporate banking and financial market operations, serves UK, Chinese and international corporate clients and financial institutions with syndicated and bilateral loans, deposits, treasury and foreign exchange, money market transactions and bond investments. The site states that the branch is authorised and regulated in China by the National Financial Regulatory Administration (NFRA) and links to an FSCS information sheet. According to the Bank of England list and the FCA register, China Minsheng Banking Corporation Limited London Branch is authorised by the PRA to accept deposits and is regulated by the FCA and the PRA.
