According to its official website, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) was created in April 2017 by the merger of two UAE banks, NBAD and FGB; it is headquartered in Abu Dhabi, is the UAE's largest bank and is about 37% owned by the UAE Government. The bank has been represented in London since 1977; the London branch is the group's hub in Europe and serves wholesale clients and high net worth individuals. In corporate and investment banking it offers local authorities, government-related entities, financial institutions and UK corporates (including social housing and real estate) bilateral and syndicated loans, trade finance, deposits, and FX, interest rate swaps, bonds, repos and money market products; its private banking focuses on financing for London residential and commercial property investment and development, with current and deposit accounts. The parent bank is authorised by the Central Bank of the UAE and the UAE Securities and Commodities Authority. According to the Bank of England list and the FCA register, First Abu Dhabi Bank P.J.S.C. is authorised by the PRA to accept deposits through its London branch and is regulated by the FCA and the PRA; the site says eligible deposits are protected by the FSCS.
