According to its official website, Wise is a company offering international accounts and money transfers to individuals, businesses and banks; in the UK the service is provided by Wise Payments Limited, which the site says is authorised by the FCA under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 for the issuing of electronic money (FRN 900507). The site says 18.9 million customers, businesses and banks use Wise every day. The personal account offers more than 40 currencies, local account details (IBAN, sort code, routing number), a multi-currency debit card accepted in more than 150 countries and international transfers, most of which arrive within seconds; Wise Assets, which pays a return on balances, is offered by Wise Assets UK Ltd. Wise Business gives companies multi-currency accounts, payments and collections, company cards and accounting integrations, and Wise Platform lets banks and institutions connect to the Wise network. According to its regulation page, the group is licensed through Wise Europe SA in Belgium (NBB), Wise Assets Europe AS in Estonia, Wise Australia Pty Ltd, Wise Asia-Pacific Pte. Ltd. in Singapore and local companies in Japan, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Thailand, the UAE and Brazil; in the US, Wise US Inc. is registered with FinCEN and transmits money under state licences. According to Companies House, the company was incorporated in 2010 and was formerly TransferWise Ltd. This information is the company's own statement.
