According to its official investor relations website, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) was formed through the merger of PT Bank BRIsyariah Tbk, PT Bank Syariah Mandiri and PT Bank BNI Syariah and began operating on 1 February 2021; the merger was approved by Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) on 27 January 2021. The site says BSI is the largest Islamic bank in Indonesia, that it became a state-owned enterprise in January 2026 and changed its name to PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, and that its shares trade under the code BRIS. Its head office is in The Tower building in Jakarta. The bank offers personal, business and digital banking and card services; the site states that it is licensed and supervised by the OJK and Bank Indonesia. In a December 2024 customer notice the bank announced that its BSI Middle East (DIFC Branch) office in the Dubai International Financial Centre had moved to Gate Precinct 04; the branch is listed in the DFSA register as the branch of a non-DIFC company with an Islamic financial institution endorsement (F008033).
