According to its official website (efgholding.com), EFG Hermes is the investment banking brand of EFG Holding, which owns a universal bank in Egypt and describes itself as the leading investment bank in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). According to the group history, the firm was incorporated in 1984 as the Egyptian Financial Group (EFG) and took the name EFG Hermes after merging with Hermes Financial Services in 1996; its UAE operations started with a licence obtained in 2002, with full services rolled out in 2005.
