According to its official website, Kotak Mahindra Bank is the flagship company of the Mumbai-based Kotak Mahindra Group. The group traces its roots to Kotak Capital Management Finance Ltd, established in 1985; in 2003 Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd became the first non-banking finance company in India to convert into a commercial bank. The group provides commercial banking, stock broking, mutual funds, insurance and investment banking, with international offices in London, New York, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Mauritius and Singapore. The bank's first overseas branch was opened in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (DIFC Branch) is a Category 1 authorised branch regulated by the DFSA (DFSA reference F000186); the site states that the branch accepts deposits from high net worth individuals and corporates not resident or operating in the UAE who qualify as professional clients or market counterparties, and does not take deposits from retail clients, from the UAE market or in UAE dirham. The branch offers current and term deposits, secured working capital and long-term loans, and, for professional clients, mutual funds, securities and insurance intermediation.
