According to its official website, KuCoin is a cryptocurrency exchange whose founders wrote the first lines of code in late 2013 and which officially launched in the third quarter of 2017; the site states that it serves more than 45 million users in more than 200 countries and regions and that the platform is operated by Peken Global Limited. For Australian users, the issuer of the derivative products listed on the site and the provider of the related trading services is Sydney-based Echuca Trading Pty Ltd (AFSL 297499); the site stresses that investing with Echuca Trading does not give ownership of the underlying assets. According to the site's roadmap, KuCoin obtained AUSTRAC digital currency exchange registration in the fourth quarter of 2025 and launched KuCard on the Mastercard network in Australia in the second quarter of 2026. The site says it offers crypto buying and conversion, spot, futures and margin trading, Earn products, trading bots, KuCard, KuCoin Pay, a Web3 wallet, tokenised stocks and indices, and institutional, API and OTC services.
