According to its official website, Melli Bank is a bank incorporated in England and wholly owned by Bank Melli Iran: the parent opened branches in London in 1967 and began providing trade finance to UK organisations wishing to work with Iran, and in January 2002 this business was transferred to the newly created Melli Bank Plc. Its registered office is at 98a Kensington High Street, London, and it also has a Hong Kong branch that it says is authorised by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. The bank provides trade finance, corporate banking and treasury services; its customer services department offers individual and corporate customers current accounts, savings accounts, time deposit accounts and inward/outward transfers. According to the Bank of England list and the FCA register, Melli Bank plc is authorised by the PRA to accept deposits and is regulated by the FCA and the PRA. The site states that eligible deposits are protected by the FSCS up to GBP 120,000.
