The site traces its roots to the Westmoreland Building Society, founded in Jamaica in 1864, and the JN Group that grew out of it; JN Bank UK was established in 2017, received its banking licence and began operating in 2020, and was relaunched as thisbank in 2026 under new leadership and ownership. It is headquartered in London. The bank offers UK residents aged 18 and over easy access, triple access and fixed term savings accounts; it does not lend directly but provides loans through more than 100 retail partners for things such as home improvements, solar panels or medical procedures. Accounts are managed through the mobile app and online banking.
