According to the UK Uber Money terms on Uber's official website (uber.com), Uber Payments UK Limited is the UK company that issues the electronic money called Uber Money to users of the Uber platforms; the terms define Uber as Uber B.V., established in the Netherlands, and its UK subsidiaries and affiliates, and name Uber Payments as the provider of the regulated e-money and payment services. Based in London (Aldgate Tower, 2 Leman Street), the company was incorporated in 2021 according to Companies House and has been listed in the FCA register as an authorised electronic money institution since 20 December 2022; the register shows the trading name "Uber Payments". Uber Money is loaded into the wallet in the Uber app by debit or credit card, an auto-refill option is available, and it is used to pay for Uber rides and Uber Eats deliveries; the balance cannot be transferred to other users, earns no interest and, being electronic money, is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
