According to its official website, Verifone is a global payments technology company with more than 40 years of history; it combines payment devices (POS terminals), software and services in one platform and says its solutions are present in more than 165 countries and handle over $8 trillion of payment transactions a year. The group offers merchants acquiring for in-person, online and omnichannel sales, acceptance of Visa, Mastercard, American Express, UnionPay, Diners Club and Discover cards, alternative payment methods such as digital wallets and buy now, pay later (BNPL), tokenization, fraud management and the Verifone Central reporting dashboard; the 2Checkout online payments service is also part of Verifone. The site's legal centre states that the "Verifone Pay" acquiring service is provided by Verifone Payments GmbH or Verifone Payments UK Limited. Verifone Payments UK Limited, based in London (125 Old Broad Street), was incorporated in 2022 according to Companies House and has been an authorised payment institution in the FCA register since June 2023; the register shows the trading names Verifone, 2Checkout, 2CO and Avangate. The complaint distribution is based on the 1-star reviews on Verifone's Trustpilot page (66) as of 8 October 2026; one person's reviews count once, and records about fake job offers and third parties using the Verifone name are left out. Across the complaints, faulty POS terminals, allegations of unauthorised debits continuing after contract cancellation, and dunning and penalty fees stand out.
